About the Role
As a CAD Technician you will take responsibility for producing accurate and detailed technical drawings and models for a wide range of civil engineering projects. Working alongside engineers and project managers, you will play a vital part in translating design concepts into practical CAD outputs that meet both project requirements and industry standards. The role offers clear scope for professional development, including progression into engineering pathways.
The key requirements for this CAD Technician role are:
1. Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models to support civil and structural projects
2. Work closely with engineers and design teams to ensure drawings reflect technical requirements
3. Modify and update existing drawings in line with feedback and design changes
4. Manage and organise CAD files in line with company quality procedures
5. Provide support to senior technicians and project managers on delivery tasks
6. Ensure compliance with company and industry quality, safety and technical standards
7. Support junior and graduate technicians with guidance where needed
Experience required for this CAD Technician role are:
8. Diploma or recognised qualification in CAD Design, Civil Engineering or related discipline
9. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a CAD Technician in a civil engineering environment
10. Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and Revit
11. Experience working with BIM standards and ISO 19650 workflows
12. Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as BIM 360 or ProjectWise
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this CAD Technician role are:
13. Strong technical knowledge of civil and structural design principles
14. Experience delivering work in a consultancy setting
15. Knowledge of MicroStation workflows in particular is an advantage
16. Evidence of CPD and working towards EngTech or Incorporated status
17. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneously
