The Governing Body of Caerleon Comprehensive School, a high-achieving school with approximately 1500 students, is seeking a motivated, organized, and dedicated individual for the role of Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will work as part of our ALN team, supporting learners through tailored interventions.
Our Additional Learning Provision is a key feature of our school, supporting all learners through universal, targeted, and specific support. The role is based in our newly-built STEP (Skills, Targeted Support, Engagement & Progress) Centre, a dedicated space for intervention and ALN provision. You will join a supportive, collaborative team and benefit from ongoing professional development. The Literacy and Communication Coach will support the STEP Centre Lead, the STEP Centre Co-ordinator, and the Literacy Co-ordinator.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Support the learning and development of pupils with Additional Learning Needs, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
2. Assist small groups in delivering engaging, tailored literacy interventions and support learners with identified needs during lessons.
3. Liaise with a Level 2 (Grade 3) Teaching Assistant for Literacy and Communication support, delivering interventions through small group sessions or in-class support.
4. Help pupils with individual learning plans to achieve personalized outcomes.
5. Assess, organize, and monitor progress of intervention programs.
6. Provide emotional and behavioral support to foster confidence and independence.
7. Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure pupil progress and well-being.
8. Create a nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and empowered.
9. Promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion in pupils both in class and wider school activities.
10. Contribute to learner outcomes, targets, and reviews.
11. Develop resources for emotional, social, and behavioral interventions.
