The Opportunity
We’re working in partnership with a major utilities contractor to recruit a Project Engineer with a strong electrical background for a brand-new, long-term utilities framework based in Rickmansworth.
This is a permanent role offering genuine stability, technical challenge, and the chance to be involved from the early stages of a flagship project delivering critical pump station infrastructure. The Role
As Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of pump station projects, with a particular focus on electrical engineering, coordination, and project execution. Working closely with Project Managers, site teams, and subcontractors, you’ll help ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Key responsibilities will include:

Managing and coordinating the electrical elements of pump station projects
*
Supporting the project lifecycle from design through to commissioning and handover
*
Reviewing and managing technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
*
Liaising with DNOs, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers
*
Assisting with programme planning, cost control, and risk management
*
Ensuring works comply with industry standards, health & safety, and quality requirements
*
Supporting commissioning activities and resolving technical issues on site
This role offers a strong mix of office-based engineering and site involvement, ideal for someone who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to completion.
About You
You’ll be an experienced engineer with a clear electrical bias and a background in utilities, water, or pump station environments.
We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:

An Electrical Engineering background (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
*
Proven experience working on pump stations, water, wastewater, or utilities projects
*
A solid understanding of electrical installations, controls, MCCs, and commissioning
*
Experience supporting or delivering projects within a contractor environment
*
Strong communication and coordination skills
*
A proactive, problem-solving mindset
Chartered status isn’t essential, but ambition and the desire to progress absolutely are.
