40 hours per weekMonday - FridayCompetitive SalarySodexo rewards and benefitsJob IntroductionWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Sustainability Engagement Officer to join a high-profile blue light services contract, supporting the delivery of ambitious climate and sustainability objectives across a complex public sector estate portfolio of more than 70 buildings and 350,000m² of operational space.This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside Energy, Estates, and Sustainability professionals to help embed sustainable practices, improve climate literacy, and deliver engaging campaigns and training programmes that support long-term environmental and social value outcomes.What you'll do:Climate Change Engagement & Behaviour ChangeDevelop and deliver engagement programmes to support climate change and sustainability objectives across the estate.Design and implement behaviour‑change initiatives focused on energy, carbon, waste, water, travel, and biodiversity.Work with service managers, estate teams, and occupiers to encourage ownership of sustainability actions.Support staff climate literacy and capability through targeted engagement and communications.Training & Capacity BuildingDesign, coordinate, and deliver sustainability and climate change training for staff, managers, and elected members (where applicable).Develop training materials, learning resources, toolkits, and guidance tailored to different roles and services.Coordinate induction and refresher training on climate responsibilities and sustainable working practices.Promote best practice and innovation in sustainable estate management.Climate Reporting & Performance MonitoringSupport the preparation of statutory and voluntary climate‑related public reporting (e.g. Climate Action Plans, annual carbon reports, ESG or sustainability statements).Collect, analyse, and present data related to carbon emissions, energy use, and other environmental performance indicators.Work with estates, finance, and service teams to ensure data accuracy and audit readiness.Translate complex performance data into clear, accessible information for public, staff, and senior stakeholders.Project & Programme SupportSupport delivery of climate change programmes and estate decarbonisation projects through engagement, communications, and reporting.Monitor progress against climate commitments, milestones, and KPIs.Identify opportunities for engagement‑led carbon reduction and continuous improvement.Contribute to funding bids and business cases where engagement or reporting evidence is required.Stakeholder & Partnership WorkingAct as a key point of contact for sustainability engagement across the estate.Liaise with external partners, community groups, and sector bodies to share learning and good practiceRepresent the organisation at internal and external meetings, forums, and workshops as requiredWhat you bring:Education and QualificationsDegree in Communications Public Relations, Media or Marketing or related field.Training qualificationsProfessional membership of relevant institution (CIM, CIPR etc.)ExperienceExperience working in sustainability, climate change, environmental management, or a related fieldExperience of engagement, communications, or behaviour‑changeinitiatives in a public, corporate, or community setting.Knowledge of climate change principles, carbon management, and environmental/sustainability issues.Experience delivering or coordinating training, workshops, or awareness programmes.Essential SkillsStrong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, engaging messages.Ability to work collaboratively across multi‑disciplinary teams and organisational boundaries.Analytical skills, including working with training materials, marketing materials.Organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Confident presentation and facilitation skills.DesirableExperience of working in a public sector estate or large asset‑based organisation.Familiarity with UK climate policy, public reporting requirements, or sector‑specific frameworksExperience designing e‑learning or blended learning programmes.Relevant qualification in sustainability, environmental management, climate change, or a related discipline.Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA) or working towards itWhat we offer:Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it's a chance to be part of something greater.
