Spire Leeds has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chemotherapy Nurse to join our staffing bank team, you must be very flexible to pick up regular shifts.
Spire Leeds Hospital, located in Roundhay, Leeds, has been treating patients for almost 30 years. We are the region’s largest private hospital in terms of the range of services we offer and the number of consultants we work with. The hospital offers a range of services and facilities including four operating theatres, a sterile services department, a dedicated endoscopy suite, and a diagnostic and imaging department with an MRI and CT scanner. There are outpatient and physiotherapy departments providing services six days per week
Duties and responsibilities;
As a Chemotherapy Specialist Nurse you are responsible for delivering nursing services to patients within the unit. Act as key worker and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to help create and maintain a robust oncology and chemotherapy outpatient service.
Provide psychological support, information and advice to patients diagnosed with cancer.
1. Assess patients' health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
2. Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals' health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway, inclusive of administering chemotherapy
3. Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.
4. Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
5. Assist in maintaining and developing cancer services.
6. Contribute to quality improvement within cancer services.
7. Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
Who we're looking for
8. Qualified Nurse with a valid NMC registration showing no restrictions or conditions
9. 2 Years experience of chemotherapy administration
10. Fully SACT trained
11. Previous experience in administering chemotherapy
12. Qualified in venepuncture and cannulation and the use of CVAD's with evidence of regular competency assessment
13. Working towards a post registration qualification in a clinical cancer specialism (desirable, not essential).
14. Experience of working in a nurse led environment with minimum supervision.
