Senior Project Engineer – Rail Systems

An established engineering business within the rail sector is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex control systems projects across its Rail Systems division.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead and support the technical delivery of rail projects, from design and specification through to site activities, testing and commissioning. You will act as a key technical interface with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver engineering activities across rail control systems projects
Produce specifications, designs, drawings and technical documentation
Undertake site activities including surveys, installation support, testing and commissioning
Ensure compliance with QHSE, CDM and rail industry standards
Review and approve technical specifications, designs and multi-disciplinary engineering outputs
Support and mentor engineers, contributing to continuous improvementSkills & Experience
Proven experience delivering rail control systems projects
Strong technical knowledge of SCADA, BMS, SISS and/or mobile solutions
Experience working to Network Rail, BS, ISO, Safety and CDM standards
Ability to lead technical delivery and work autonomously
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Experience producing professional technical documentation
Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent experience)
Technical Skills (Desirable)
Safety Functional / TÜV certification
Programming and configuration experience (e.g. Silworx, GX Works, Iconics, HMI)
Ability to interpret drawings, schematics and system designsHours
37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Core hours: Mon–Thurs 09:00–16:00 | Fri 09:00–12:00
