Trustees (voluntary position) Ribston Hall High School is a prestigious Grammar School on the outskirts of Gloucester City Centre. We take immense pride in our dynamic and thriving community where exceptional students, expert teachers and an effective support staff team, come together to create an environment of educational excellence, with the input and guidance of our Board of Trustees.
Ribston Hall High School is now looking to recruit additional Trustees, to join the Board. This is a voluntary position that provides an exciting opportunity to make a positive contribution to our school community.
Ideally suited to experienced professionals with strong leadership and decision‑making skills, the role of Trustee is very rewarding with a real scope for personal and professional development, whilst contributing to the success of our students’ educational journey.
We would require a commitment to attend 8‑10 evening board meetings a year, having pre‑read the meeting papers and to undertake 3 or 4 school visits a year. Ideally these visits would take place during the main school day, to observe the school in operation in agreed areas of interest. You would of course also be invited to join various events, performances and celebrations of school talent and achievement when these occurred, to enable you to experience the richness of our school.
We currently have a good mix of skills on our Trust Board, so we are primarily seeking Trustees who feel enthused by the school ethos. Individuals who would be keen to be involved in shaping the future and supporting the delivery of education at the forefront of thinking, to maximise the benefits for our students in years to come.
There are no specific education requirements for the role of Trustee, but there are certain expectations. We are seeking individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm, a real desire to make a difference and the ability to commit their time to attend regular Trustee meetings.
We are particularly interested in recruiting Trustees with expertise in the following areas:
* Community and Lived Experience
Trustees focus on the three core functions of governance:
* Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and the strategic direction of the school.
* Holding school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its students and the performance management of staff.
* Overseeing and ensuring effective financial performance of the school.
Ideally, you must:
* Have a desire to play a part in improving our school.
* Be willing to build an open relationship with the staff and provide challenge and support
What do you get in return?
* An understanding into the long‑term planning of the school
* An opportunity to work with the trustees and staff in improving our school
* Training to develop an understanding of specific school management issues
* A great sense of achievement in making a real difference to our school
* The pleasure of seeing our students learning and developing
If you feel you can make a positive contribution to our Board of Trustees, please contact the Clerk to the Trustees, Mrs Dee Murphy on clerk@ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk by Friday 14th November to arrange a visit and meet with the Chair and Headteacher.
