Working 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and evenings, as part of a small team with a Kitchen Manager and 5 Catering Assistants, you'll prepare meals for approximately 60 boarding students, focusing on fresh, from-scratch cooking.
You will assist the Kitchen Manager in managing the menu, food production planning, purchasing, and stock control, as well as contribute to menu development, cleanliness, and kitchen housekeeping.
Shift Pattern Overview: 5 days over 7, alternating between 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and 11:30 AM–7:30 PM. Two days per week involve providing all meal services when the Kitchen Manager is off, requiring split shifts or full-day coverage. Typical days off are Friday and Saturday or Sunday and Monday, with every third weekend off.
Outside of Term Time, during private lettings and summer programs, you will join a larger catering team with no split shifts required. A term-time only contract can also be arranged if preferred.
Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure kitchen cleanliness and safety compliance
* Manage stock to minimize waste and meet budget targets
* Maintain health and safety standards and food safety regulations
* Adhere to company policies on uniform and PPE
Person Specification:
* Excellent culinary skills and experience in a similar role
* Passionate about food and service excellence
* NVQ Level 2 in professional cookery or equivalent (desirable)
* Intermediate food hygiene/Level 2 certification (desirable)
