Roydon Marina Village is a unique set up with residential park homes, owned holiday lodges and hire fleet lodges as well as a busy marina, hotel and café/bar. We are located in the beautiful Lee Valley Regional Park, a short 5 minute walk from Roydon railway station, and central London is only a 30 minute train ride away.
We are looking for two café/bar assistants with an interest in working occasional shifts in the kitchen to work along side our small team. Evening shifts and weekend shifts will be required.
Main Purpose of Job:
To serve food and beverages and provide excellent levels of customer service in The Boathouse Café whilst complying with food hygiene procedures.
Reporting Responsibility:
Reports to the Marina Manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:
* To ensure compliance with all Food Hygiene procedures.
* To complete temperature records in accordance with the EHO and Safer Food Better Business records, reporting any issues immediately to a manager.
* To adhere to allergen regulations. If a customer has an allergy requirement, always check with the kitchen and provide advice on the ingredients used in dishes.
* To adhere to our premises license and licensing regulations, enforcing alcohol serving times, ID checks, and times for playing music.
* To undertake the preparation of food and beverages.
* To carry out line cleaning as required.
* To meet, greet, and seat customers and provide a welcoming atmosphere for them to relax and enjoy their visit.
* To take orders, upselling where possible.
* To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of menu items and specials.
* To maintain a high standard of customer service and guest satisfaction at all times.
* To handle customer queries, concerns, and complaints in a friendly, polite manner; recording complaints and informing a manager where necessary to ensure the problem is resolved immediately.
* To clear used cutlery, crockery, and glassware from tables, clean, and re-lay them ready for the next customer.
* To maintain a clean, tidy, and hygienic environment in accordance with the cleaning rota, ensuring records are accurately maintained.
* To work as a team, communicating effectively between bar, waiting staff, and the kitchen team to provide high levels of service to our customers.
* To operate the till system, including inputting orders and processing customer payments, adhering to cash handling procedures. If requested by a manager, cash up the till and complete the relevant records of takings.
* To ensure the bar and display stands have sufficient stock of all drinks, snacks, glassware, crockery, straws, and napkins.
* To help unpack deliveries, reporting any shortages or breakages.
* To assist with events.
* To support the Marina Manager with the sale of gas, coal, and diesel.
* To undertake any other reasonable tasks as required.
About The Role
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications:
* Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene (will be provided).
* Fluent in spoken and written English
Experience:
* Previous bar or waiting experience is desirable.
* Experience of till operation and cash handling is desirable.
Skills and Attributes:
* Must have excellent communication skills.
* Must have high standards of personal presentation.
* Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, reacting quickly using your initiative.
* Must be comfortable working with members of the public, be polite and well-mannered at all times, able to initiate conversations, and enjoy providing high levels of attentive service.
