Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspiring and committed musician-educator to join the vibrant Music Department at Leighton Park School as Assistant Director of Music from September 2026. Music is central to life at Leighton Park, reflecting the School’s ethos of nurturing creativity, individuality and excellence. We are seeking a talented teacher and performer who shares our belief in the transformative power of music education and is passionate about enabling every student to find their musical voice.
Responsibilities
* Teach Music across Key Stages 3, GCSE and A Level.
* Work closely with the Director of Music to support the strategic and day‑to‑day leadership of the department.
* Shape a curriculum that is broad, inclusive and forward‑thinking.
* Support and contribute to a rich and diverse co‑curriculum programme, leading ensembles, supporting concerts and events, and encouraging participation at all levels.
* Develop opportunities for students of all abilities, promoting inclusion and collaboration.
* Support and inspire colleagues within a collaborative department.
Qualifications
* Outstanding classroom practitioner, able to teach Music across Key Stages 3, GCSE and A Level.
* Experience of developing young instrumentalists and ensembles (essential).
* Experience of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) welcomed but not essential.
* Accomplished and versatile musician, confident in performance on one or more instruments.
* Commitment to innovative and reflective teaching practice.
* Deep enthusiasm for working with young people.
