Job Overview
We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our Pharmacy team at The Grange University Hospital. The role is part of a busy department and requires a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive individual who shares our vision and seeks a new challenge. The position will be on Annex 21 band 5 until ACT and Medicines Management qualifications are achieved. Applicants who are due to qualify as pharmacy technicians and will soon register with the GPhC are welcomed.
Main Duties of the Job
* Provide a medicines management service to acute wards and participate in dispensary sessions at GUH.
* Work closely with senior pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to assist in the daily running of the medicines management ward‑based service and the pharmacy dispensary.
* Use pharmacy and other computer systems (e.g., CWS) to carry out all tasks accurately and timely, ensuring a safe and efficient service with high‑quality patient care.
* Supply medication suitably labelled for discharge, including checking suitability of patients’ own medication.
* Transcribe drug histories or reconciled drug charts to the discharge notification section on CWS during admission.
* Accurately check the dispensing of other members of the department, following completion of ABUHB ACPT reaccreditation that meets the requirements of the National Education Framework.
* Communicate accurate information to patients, carers, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals.
* Comply with health and safety and COSHH legislation for safe handling of all pharmaceuticals.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered with the GPhC.
* BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science or Pharmacy Services, or equivalent.
* ACT and Medicines Management qualifications (or willing to pursue).
* Basic knowledge of NHS functions (desirable).
* Welsh speaker (desirable).
* Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Good verbal and written communication.
* Basic keyboard skills.
* Experience in hospital pharmacy.
* Highly motivated, diplomatic, flexible approach, conscientious, reliable, good with patients, team‑working, and able to work independently where necessary.
