Role Overview
Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Paediatrics, Interventional Radiology and Gastro‑intestinal, substantive post at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. This is a fully funded and new/replacement post required to cover the needs of an expanding Radiology Department.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with existing colleagues to deliver and enhance a comprehensive Radiology service supporting the imaging requirements of the Trust and primary care services.
* Be part of a wider team of consultant radiologists who provide sub‑specialty and general radiological services across the Trust.
* Encourage a sub‑specialty interest and help shape services in respective fields of expertise.
* Develop new services, including interventional procedures pertaining to area of interest.
* Contribute to the general radiology on‑call rota.
* Provide cover for colleagues who are absent on leave, with six‑weeks notice expected.
* Participate in managerial and administrative work.
* Represent the Trust in managerial reports, accountable to NHS standards.
Qualifications
* Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent qualification.
* Must be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of possession of a CCT at the time of interview.

Hospital Overview
Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust is a large District General Hospital with a proud history. It offers comprehensive care and extensive training opportunities with over 200 consultants, a similar number of trainees and approximately 60 (planned to expand to 80+) medical undergraduates. It has a state‑of‑the‑art emergency assessment unit and is developing new ways of working to streamline in‑patient care.
Additional Information
All sub‑speciality interests are welcome, especially Paediatrics, Interventional Radiology and Gastro‑intestinal. The post holder will be encouraged to develop new services including interventional procedures pertaining to their area of interest. The successful candidate will be contractually accountable to Northampton General Hospital Trust and will be managerially responsible to the Chief Executive through the Medical Director and Clinical Director.
