Neonatal Staff Nurse - Special Care Baby Unit
We are currently looking to recruit a newly qualified Band 5 staff Nurse, an ideal opportunity to join our small and friendly team at Hereford. If you have a passion for neonates and want to follow this career pathway then this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. As a newly qualified SCBU staff nurse you will need to show that you have some relevant neonatal experience gained throughout your studies. You must be confident, compassionate and show excellent clinical skills. You will actively support the ward management team to promote a positive patient experience, embedding the philosophy of family integrated care. You must also be committed to ongoing study to complete your Neonatal Training within 2 years of commencing employment.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of individualised care to sick and premature babies and their families. You will embed the ethos of family integrated care, partake in assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating patient care. You will maintain your clinical skills and acquire new skills as you progress within the role. You will maintain standards as set out within unit guidelines, you will maintain good record keeping, communicate effectively with the patients family, relatives and other colleagues within the multi disciplinary team.
Registrations / Qualifications
* RN/RSCN
* NMC Registration
* Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor
Knowledge and Skills
* Sound knowledge and neonatal care, relating this back to clinical practice.
* Knowledge of National Neonatal Initiatives/Standards, i.e. BLISS and UNICEF BFI
Experience
* Evidence of working within a neonatal unit, level 1, 2 or 3 in the last 12 months either in substantive post or clinical placement
* Newborn Life Support
* Competent in Neonatal Venepuncture
