Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to offer a full-time 37-hour Social Work position within its dedicated Hospital Discharge Team.
All practitioners have the opportunity to influence the development of our work and are supported by a strong, experienced management team at both strategic and operational levels.
We recognize that social work is professionally and personally challenging, requiring considerable skill, commitment, and enthusiasm. We offer a dedicated in-house Learning and Development Centre to support practitioners at all levels in maintaining their skills and professional development.
Our Social Care Departments have benefited from significant recent investments, enhancing preventative services to strengthen frontline capacity.
Benefits include an improved career pathway for Social Work professionals, flexible working arrangements, Leisure for Life membership discounts, and access to schemes like Cycle to Work and Let’s Connect technology purchase schemes.
New social workers will be supported through our First Year in Practice peer support programme, designed to bridge the gap between qualifying and consolidating practice.
Applicants should have a sound understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act and relevant legislation, stay informed on emerging issues, and have experience or interest in working within the relevant discipline. Commitment to anti-oppressive practice, strong assessment, communication, and planning skills are essential.
Responsibilities include managing a defined caseload and maintaining links with partner agencies. Candidates must possess a recognized Social Work qualification and be registered, or willing to register, with Social Care Wales as a 'Social Worker' upon appointment.
Shortlisted candidates will need to confirm whether they are applying for the Social Worker (GR11) or Experienced Social Worker (GR12) position and, for the latter, provide evidence of registration and three years of post-qualifying experience at interview.
