The Affordable Food Network Coordinator will support and oversee the development of the Affordable Food Network (made up of social or community supermarkets and other affordable food initiatives in Essex), providing centralised support to social supermarkets and other affordable food initiatives. The coordinator will work as part of a countywide team to develop and embed a culture of peer support, peer learning, and network capability, ensuring the network's sustainability and impact.This will include:
* Helping Food Projects Succeed:You’ll offer advice and support to help existing food clubs run smoothly and reach more people. You'll also help new projects get off the ground with guidance on things like health and safety, governance, and planning.
* Bringing People Together:You’ll organise events, networking opportunities, and peer learning sessions so projects can share ideas and support each other.
* Supporting Skills and Learning:You’ll help arrange training for volunteers and staff to build confidence and know-how in running community food services.
* Making a Bigger Impact:You’ll work with partners like Essex County Council and other organisations to shape the future of affordable food work in the area and make sure the network keeps growing strong.
* Sharing Success:You’ll help collect stories, data, and feedback that show how the network is making a difference – and use that info to keep improving.
* Pitching In:You’ll support wider efforts around food storage and supply with ideas and contacts, helping to strengthen food access for all.
* Keeping Things Fair and Safe:You’ll follow important policies around things like equality, confidentiality, and health and safety, making sure everyone feels welcome and supported.
This role has an office base in Maldon but there will be both home working and community based working included in the role.
