Description Closing date: 18th May 2025 11:59pm Salary: £36,630 - £42,897 ▪ Grade: 6 Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is a collaboration of UK police forces working to keep people safe from terrorism. At the regional level, Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM) coordinates the counter terrorist response and provides specialist support to police forces in Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Mercia and the West Midlands. The Protect and Prepare team within CTP West Midlands (WM) strengthen the protection against a terrorist attack in the UK or against interests overseas to reduce vulnerability. The Protect and Prepare team also mitigate the impact of a terrorist incident if it occurs, including carrying out work to bring a terrorist attack to an end rapidly, and to recover from its aftermath. The role As a CT Training Officer, you’ll be based in our modern offices near to Birmingham International Airport. You’ll work Monday to Friday, office hours but an element of flexibility is required to meet operational requirements. You’ll work to design, develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate training courses to equip Police Staff and Police Officers across West Midlands Police and Regional Forces with skills essential to CTP. This will include, but is not limited to, IT systems training, Counter Terrorism Awareness training and Investigative training. You’ll ensure that the delivery of training packages effectively meet the needs of the Force by the most appropriate method. Being flexible and supporting other areas of the department including with testing and exercising is essential. Responsibilities Researching, co-ordinating, facilitating and delivering the national, regional and local learning and development of CTPWM and regional personnel in accordance with other regional and national trainers and subject matter experts. Researching, preparing and updating lesson plans and any associated training material for all courses. Assisting in the review and development of training modules as part of the national CT training programme. Assisting with the identification of training and development gaps. Assess the level of understanding gained by students as a result delivering training. Responsibility for the programme supervision, discipline and welfare of students whilst they are on the course, providing the necessary support and encouragement in the workplace. Assisting in monitoring the effectiveness of the learning and development programmes through the identified evaluation process. Skills and competencies Essential Hold a training qualification, minimum Level 3 AET, Cert Ed or equivalent. Previous experience of delivering training courses and/or presentations. Excellent communication and presenting skills. Experience of IT packages to design and deliver training including Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and video conferencing software. Ability to contribute to best practice to ensure that training is revised and refreshed accordingly. Ability to influence and negotiate to support all levels throughout the CT network to ensure training is delivered to a national standard. Highly motivated and resourceful being able to plan and prioritise high workloads with minimum supervision. Desirable Experience of working in a Learning, Training or Exercising environment. Hold a full driving licence and be prepared to travel nationally. Understanding of policing / Counter terrorism policing.
