Prisons are one of the most challenging yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. This role offers development of existing skills and the opportunity to learn something new every day. This position supports 12 hours a week at HMP Preston, 8 hours a month at HMP Kirkham and 4 hours a month at HMP Lancaster Farms, with no on-call or weekend work to enable a strong work-life balance.
Responsibilities
* Provide advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the offender healthcare setting who may present with complex and/or chronic conditions.
* Determine clinical diagnosis and treatment plans, and maintain patient records as an autonomous practitioner.
* Be part of a forward-thinking, innovative health care team (GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and mental health professionals) delivering high-quality, best-practice treatment.
* Contribute to the Wider MSK Health in Justice Team, working with physiotherapists and podiatrists across 58 prisons.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered with post-registration experience assessing and treating a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery.
* Self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills.
Work Pattern and Support
You will be closely supported and mentored by our Team Lead Podiatrist. The role benefits from our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training, and funding for external clinical courses in a supportive learning environment.
Team and Development
You will be part of the MSK Health in Justice Team, comprising podiatrists and physiotherapists working in multiple prisons, and you will receive ongoing support and development opportunities.
