What the role will involve
Reporting to the L3Harris ICI Finance and Commercial Director, candidates will manage a small team of Trade Compliance Professionals supporting the ICI Division in the UK. This is a lead role responsible for ensuring the business complies with all applicable Trade Compliance regulations and corporate policies. The role also involves assessing and providing guidance on broader business activities within ICI across Australia and the USA, primarily from an advisory standpoint, with increased responsibility in policy writing and adoption to ensure consistency and best practices.
Candidates will work closely with Business Development, Programmes, and Engineering teams to provide expert advice on importing and exporting controlled goods, software, and technology.
As part of the wider Trade Compliance Team, the role involves collaborating with local and corporate personnel to establish efficiencies and best practices supporting compliant growth of the company.
The responsibilities include:
1. Developing, implementing, and maintaining a Corporate-Level Trade Compliance Programme for the EMEA region, with support for the APAC division.
2. Advising senior leadership to support business execution through advice and best practices.
3. Monitoring regulatory changes affecting embargoed and sanctioned countries and other relevant regulations, and communicating these to manage business impacts.
4. Identifying opportunities to influence export legislation and implementation.
5. Working with other departments to identify transactions requiring import/export authorizations and compliance requirements.
6. Overseeing UK and Australian Government export licenses and approvals to ensure ongoing coverage.
7. Supporting US parties with export authorizations where applicable.
8. Ensuring accurate and timely trade compliance reporting to UK Government and L3Harris.
9. Collaborating with Engineering on trade compliance aspects of developing sovereign capabilities.
10. Guiding Trade Compliance Specialists in jurisdiction and classification analysis of equipment, software, and technology.
11. Supporting briefings and seeking export support and approval from relevant UK and international agencies.
