The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in the South West. This position offers the chance to lead reliability strategies, drive continuous improvement, and play a vital role in optimising plant performance through proactive maintenance practices.
The Role
As the Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. You will lead reliability improvement initiatives, support root cause investigations, and drive engineering standards across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance strategies.
Create and audit maintenance schedules in line with statutory and engineering requirements.
Optimise the use of maintenance software systems (e.g., SAP or similar CMMS) including BOM development and task optimisation.
Implement and oversee predictive maintenance activities such as vibration analysis, thermography, acoustic monitoring, and oil sampling.
Train and mentor the maintenance team on reliability tools and techniques.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and lead failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams to prevent repeat failures.
Coordinate external contractors and ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols.
Monitor KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and PPM compliance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
The Candidate
Qualifications & Knowledge
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Strong understanding of reliability principles and condition-based maintenance.
Experience working with process or manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment.
Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation and compliance in a plant setting.
Skills & Competencies

Confident communicator with excellent organisational ability.
Hands-on experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
Able to prioritise effectively and manage time under pressure.
Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
