Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board – Deeside Community Hospital domestic services department is recruiting Domestic Assistants.
Job Overview
The Domestic Services team ensures standards of environmental cleanliness are maintained. This role includes cleaning tasks, equipment operation, and supporting patient care. The role is 2 part‑time posts (35 hours/week) from 7am to 2:30pm, 5 days a week including weekends, with a rota. Pay is circa £12.73 per hour, enhanced for Saturday and Sunday. Uniform/protective clothing is provided.
Main Duties
* Maintain standards of cleanliness of floors, furniture and fittings, and remove marks from walls/partitions/doors.
* Carry out non‑cleaning tasks such as washing patient crockery, jugs and glasses and making beds with clean linen within staff accommodation.
* Operate cleaning equipment, including electrical, to achieve specified standards.
* Handle refuse disposal.
* Replenish supplies of paper hand towels, toilet tissue, soap and hand moisturiser.
* Monitor stock levels of cleaning materials and request supplies as necessary.
* Organise own day‑to‑day workload according to scheduling guidelines.
* Complete documentation to record a ‘full clean’ completed.
* Demonstrate understanding of specified cleaning methods and frequencies.
* Communicate with supervisors, patients, visitors, ward and departmental staff to achieve cleanliness standards.
* Ensure compliance with Health Board and Departmental policies, procedures and good practices.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
* Previous experience in the cleaning industry is beneficial but not essential; on‑the‑job training will be provided.
* Ability to carry out duties on a rota, including weekends.
* Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Welsh is desirable but not required.
* Commitment to customer care and a supportive team environment.
