The opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual tojoin our friendly, small, hard working team, to provide 12 months maternitycover.

We currently have seven permanentAudiologists, both part time and full time and two assistant Audiologicalpractitioners who are supported by two full time and one part time adminassistants and an admin support manager.

We provide routine and complex care to adults and fit thelatest NHS hearing aid technology.

Weare an adaptable team, with the opportunity to work from home a couple of timesa month, as well as supporting flexible working where ever possible.


Main duties of the job

The department has a wide range of responsibilities,serving two ICBs AQP and NON AQP activity as well as the Acute Trust, with thebulk of the patients seen for community audiology care.

The team provide audiology support for thelocal ENT team, as well as including a full hearing aid service for adults. The team also provide a tinnitus supportservice and a full domiciliary service.

We are based at Crawley Hospital, with satellite clinicsat East Surrey Hospital, Horsham Hospital, Wayside Surgery (Horley) andCaterham Dene Hospital.

The post is to work across all sites, in both hearing aidclinics and ENT support clinics.

The audiology service works hard within the community tosign post for health difficulties, as well as health prevention for ourcommunity.

The team work closely withlocal dementia support services and provide outreach screening clinics forthe more vulnerable communities.

Job responsibilities

This postinvolves the provision of diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology services,working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to encompass an Audiology servicefor all ages.

As a member of the teamthe post holder will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of theAudiology Department.

The post holderwill be responsible for a caseload of adult patients.

The post holder will assist withthe training of trainee Audiology staff.

Person Specification


Skills

* Self motivated and able to motivate staff and patients.
* Confident and caring approach.
* Knowledge of NHS and non NHS hearing aids.
* Experience in Audiological diagnostic testing.
* Sound knowledge of rehabilitation techniques for the hearing impaired using the latest digital technology.
* Verification of fittings using REM.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.
* Demonstrable clinical experience in one or more of: balance, tinnitus or wax removal.
* Good organisational skills.
* Good working knowledge of Auditbase.


Experience

* Experience of working within an Audiology service.
* Experience in a wide range of clinical Audiology areas.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting and liaison between acute and community services.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting and liaison between acute and community services.


Knowledge

* Knowledge of NHS and non NHS hearing aids.
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development through approved courses and other relevant activities.
* Awareness of current issues in Audiology.
* Knowledge of AQP and non AQP contract requirements.


Qualifications

* BSc Audiology or equivalent.
* RCCP / AHCS registration.
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development through approved courses and other relevant activities.
* BAA membership.


Other

* Understands principles of equality and Diversity.
* Access to a car.
* Works well under pressure.
