About the Role

Amagi Systems Engineer (SE) will be the trusted advisor to the customer, identifying and solving customer challenges by applying Amagi products and services that fit the customer's needs. The SE will be the interface between the customer and the product team, leading product discussions, feature requests, and building proof of concept for customers. The SE will build and maintain product demos, technical presentations, and other technical collateral necessary in various stages of the sales cycle. The SE will support the EMEA sales team in account planning and opportunity sales cycle by taking technical ownership of the opportunity, and engaging product subject matter experts as necessary.

Job Description

The Sales Engineer (SE) will serve as a key technical advisor in the pre-sales process, working closely with the Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to design and communicate solutions that align with customer needs.

This role requires a strong foundation in both traditional broadcast engineering workflows, such as file-based workflows, Traditional linear playout, and contribution/distribution pipeline, as well as modern cloud-native streaming technologies, including protocols like HLS/DASH, SSAI, and emerging FAST channel ecosystems.

The SE will act as a bridge between business and technical teams, translating complex customer requirements into actionable solutions and owning the technical engagement from discovery through handoff and SOW.

Success in this role depends on the ability to engage deeply with customer engineering teams, lead technical conversations confidently across both broadcast and streaming domains, and proactively collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape the proposed solution.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on role that blends deep technical understanding with strategic pre-sales execution and requires someone who thrives in dynamic, cross-functional environments.

The SE will represent Amagi at trade shows and other forums as required to discuss and demonstrate the technical capabilities of Amagi products and services. Other job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, technical responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), authoring blog posts, and building training/ demo collateral for internal and external enablement.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Serve as a self-driven, accountable Sales Engineer (SE) who thrives in a fast-paced environment, taking full ownership of tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
* Lead pre-sales engagements end-to-end across multiple customer opportunities, ensuring timely execution, clear prioritization, and proactive risk escalation in consultation with sales and management.
* Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for customer technical queries during the pre-sales cycle; collaborate with internal SMEs for deep-dive architecture discussions when needed.
* Participate in discovery calls to gather and document customer requirements, and respond to RFPs and technical evaluations.
* Design and deliver tailored demos and POCs based on customer needs, with well-defined success criteria and measurable outcomes.
* Identify product gaps during engagements and raise feature requests; collaborate with product teams to align and prioritize the roadmap.
* Ensure high documentation hygiene—clearly record work, decisions, and lessons learned for both internal and external stakeholders.
* Support customers during critical calls or escalations, including outside regular working hours, as needed.
* Contribute to the development of technical collateral, blog posts, training materials, and sales-enablement assets to showcase Amagi’s products and capabilities.
* Represent Amagi at industry events, trade shows, and technical forums, articulating the value of our solutions.
* Provide ongoing feedback to improve pre-sales processes, product capabilities, and technical documentation.
* Perform other related duties as assigned in alignment with team and company goals.

Requirements and Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree with equivalent years of relevant experience
* 7+ years of experience in media & entertainment technologies
* 5+ years of relevant experience in pre-sales engineering or solutions architecture
* Desirable - professional certifications in public cloud technologies

Required Skills and Abilities

* A strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with Managers, Solution Architects, and cross-functional stakeholders (Onboarding, Support). Acts as a key technical liaison between the Sales Engineering team and Engineering/Product teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.
* Solid understanding of Broadcast IT/File-based workflows (e.g., NRCS, MAM, playout systems, encoding chains), enabling meaningful technical conversations with broadcast customers and awareness of traditional infrastructure.
* Working knowledge of streaming media protocols and cloud-native video workflows (e.g., HLS, DASH, CMAF, RTMP), with the ability to contextualize these within FAST (Free Ad-Supported TV) and broadcast-in-the-cloud environments.
* Familiarity with public cloud services such as AWS and GCP, particularly as they relate to video processing, media services, and cloud infrastructure.
* Proficiency in sales and software productivity tools, including Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, and other CRM or project management platforms.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand, translate, and document complex technical requirements from customers.
* Capable of writing clear, structured, and technically accurate responses to RFPs/RFIs and product documentation.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and product features to both technical and non-technical audiences during presentations and demos.
* Strong time management and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer opportunities and internal workstreams concurrently.
