Job Description:

This role is offered by Crouch Waterfall, a subsidiary of Vulcain Engineering Group.

As part of the Vulcain family, Crouch Waterfall brings decades of specialist experience in Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering to a wide range of UK infrastructure projects. Crouch Waterfall specialise in core areas of Bridges, Rail, Infrastructure, Buildings and Geotechnical Services, designing and co-ordinating projects from conception to completion.

We are currently experiencing strong growth with exciting opportunities, and as a result of which we are seeking a Bridge Engineer / Graduate Bridge Engineer (Structures) who has ambition to grow alongside an expanding business, whilst playing an integral part of achieving the goals of our business in parallel.

Key Responsibilities:

* Join our multi-disciplinary design team and contribute to a diverse mix of UK projects – including buildings, infrastructure, footbridges, road and rail bridges, station buildings, and level crossings.
* Gain experience in both new bridge designs and the assessment, repair, and strengthening of existing structures.
* Work as part of a team of engineers and technicians, helping to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Attend site surveys and client meetings to build your confidence and capability in a client-facing environment.
* Develop project management skills across the full project lifecycle – including opportunity identification, bidding and tendering, contract negotiation, feasibility and detailed design, and construction support.
* Gain exposure to the financial aspects of project delivery, including invoice approval, billing, and debt collection.
* Support a range of technical tasks including structural inspections and surveys, feasibility studies, programme preparation, and reviewing designs produced by others.

You will join the fast-growing Rail Team in Basingstoke, and will be supported and supervised by the more senior engineers within the office to further your career and work in close conjunction with the other offices.

Ideal Profile:

* A minimum of a BEng in Civil and/or Structural Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
* Ideally, a graduate member with either ICE or IStructE (or be willing to work towards).
* You will have a keen interest (or experience) with Structural Design.
* Whilst we are open to fresh graduates, ideally you with have experience with the design of civil and structural schemes. Additional experience with the design of bridges is a plus.
* Experiences in supporting projects for Network Rail will be an advantage.
* Fluency in English language, and the permanent right to work in the UK.

The ideal candidate should be proactive, dynamic and intuitive, happy to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player and interacting comfortably with the other staff members.

What’s in it for you?

At Crouch Waterfall, we’re committed to investing in our people through tailored training, mentoring, and real opportunities for progression. Whether you're aiming for Chartership, developing leadership skills, or gaining broader commercial exposure, we’ll support your growth every step of the way.

You’ll be part of a supportive team with an open-door culture, where your voice is heard and your ideas matter. Our engineers work across sectors and disciplines - with proven success helping individuals move from buildings and commercial projects into infrastructure and heavy industry.

You’ll also be trusted early on with real responsibility – contributing to technically complex projects, engaging directly with clients, and gaining experience in areas like project management and commercial delivery that go beyond the typical graduate scope.

With a strong presence in the rail and construction sectors – and as part of the wider Vulcain Engineering Group – you’ll benefit from international connections, long-term stability, and a truly collaborative culture.

Rewards and Benefits

* Hybrid working set-up, with flexible working hours.
* Casual office attire and a relaxed and comfortable working environment
* Minimum 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, plus a day off on your Birthday
* Additional leave purchase scheme – opportunity to purchase up to 5 additional days of leave per year
