About Bear Care
Founded in 1985 and still under the same family ownership, Bear Care is Nottinghamshire's longest-running nursery group with a proud legacy of providing high-quality, nurturing childcare across the county. With sites in areas including Gedling and Stapleford, we're known for our family feel, experienced staff, and commitment to every child's individual journey.
Whether it's building dens, messy play, garden adventures, or supporting key milestones, we believe in letting children be children – while gently guiding them through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
At Bear Care, we don't just care for children – we help shape confident, happy learners.
The Role - Senior Nursery Practitioner
As a Senior Nursery Practitioner, you'll be a key part of our team – supporting your room leader or manager, acting as a role model to less experienced staff, and above all, delivering warm, responsive care and creative early years learning.
This role is perfect for someone with strong practical experience, a nurturing personality, and a genuine passion for early childhood development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality care and play-based learning in line with EYFS
* Support the room leader or deputy in day-to-day planning, observations, and assessments
* Take the lead in your room in the absence of a more senior staff member
* Build close, positive relationships with key children and their families
* Act as a mentor to junior team members and help foster a supportive, reflective environment
* Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive setting
* Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and Bear Care's high standards at all times
What We're Looking For:
* Level 3 qualification (or above) in Early Years Childcare
* Previous experience in a nursery or early years setting
* Strong working knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding practices
* A warm, caring nature with a child-led approach to teaching and play
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Organised, enthusiastic, and keen to grow professionally
What You'll Get:
* A welcoming and supportive team culture
* Ongoing training and development opportunities
* Genuine progression routes within the Bear Care group
* Competitive salary based on experience
* Discounted childcare for staff
* A role where your ideas and creativity are valued
At Bear Care, we believe happy staff = happy children. We take pride in creating a workplace where everyone feels supported, appreciated, and part of something meaningful.
Bear Care is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. All applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and reference checks in line with safer recruitment policies.
