We are seeking to recruit an Animal Technician & Practical Assistant. The role involves all tasks associated with the care and husbandry of animals housed within the land-based school's collection, delivering practical instruction and guidance to learners, staff and visitors, and promoting and maintaining safe operating procedures in line with college procedures, legislation and licensing.
Responsibilities
* Care and husbandry of all animals housed within the land-based school's collection.
* Provide practical instruction and guidance to learners, staff and visitors.
* Promote and maintain safe operating procedures, complying with college procedures, legislation and licensing.
* Work safely with live animals and support the welfare of animals.
* Assist with ensuring safety of staff, learners, and visitors in animal working areas.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Good general education, with at least level 3 in an animal-related subject (national diploma or NVQ) or equivalent industry experience.
* Basic Welsh language skills or willingness to undertake training.
* Desire to work with and motivate young people.
* Ability to work as part of a team and be self-motivated.
* Commitment to safeguarding and safety of children and young people, and expectation to provide a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and optionally register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). Successful candidates will be required to pay for the Enhanced Disclosure and registration with the EWC.
