Description The Commercial Manager will lead a team, be self-motivated, disciplined and commercially astute with the ability to identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks, taking ownership and responsibility. The Commercial Manager shall have oversight of the implementation and ongoing assurance that at all times the Company’s governance and any contract specific requirements are adhered to. Excellent communication and customer facing skills are a must, along with working as part of a team promoting our culture and values. You will consider problems as a challenge, collect information relevant to the problem, be disciplined in ascertaining the root cause, identify and develop a practical solution, communicate the findings, and implement action to resolve the problem. LI-MF1 Responsibilities Responsible for administration of the Supply Chain Change Management Process. Liaison with the project Commercial team and Supply chain to manage approval and communication of Project Change in accordance with the Change Management Process. Estimation of Change Value and Budgets to present to Change Board for 2 stage approval. Liaison with PM’s & Planners to estimate impact of Change on Project accepted programme. Compilation & Management of Change forms and Trackers to record Change and Budget status across Project Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS). Production and circulation of Project Supply Chain Change Tracker to various parties to allow effective visibility of change movements across the CBS. Organisation & attendance of Project Supply Chain Change Boards to facilitate Change sign-off. Efficient communication of approved change to DRDL commercial team to commence supply chain change instruction & NEC process via CEMAR. Liaison with Project Controls department to provide supporting data for Head Contract Change Management process. Liaison with Project Controls team to provide supporting change forms for the separate Work Instruction Form (WIF) process. Supply of change data to support monthly Project reporting as required. Assistance to Commercial team on NEC change implementation where required. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Significant commercial experience in robust management of large and complex construction contracts, bids and change initiatives in a regulated environment Demonstrable evidence of developing effective customer relationships and confident at negotiating independently within agreed delegations Knowledge of NEC4 ECC and PSC terms. Ability to effectively lead and develop a team. Good communication, presentation, networking and negotiation skills. Attention to detail with the ability to identify commercial risks, propose steps to mitigate, and communicate effectively. Desirable Educated to degree level with relevant degree (ideally Construction, Business, Law, MRICS, MCIOB, MCIPS or similar) or equivalent qualification or relevant experience World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) (previously IACCM) or MCIPS qualifications are highly desirable. The ability to make decisions within delegated authority and to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Working knowledge of MoD contract terms. Use of CEMAR NEC software systems.
