We’re looking for a motivated and hands‑on individual with a strong electrical background to join our team as a Multi‑Skilled Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager.
You’ll be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and improving automated equipment and systems within a busy poultry hatchery environment – playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes.
Key Tasks Within The Job
* To undertake planned preventative maintenance activities and reactive maintenance to ensure optimum efficiency of the plant and profitability. Carrying out tasks to the highest standard.
* To ensure all engineering tasks are undertaken in line with Health & Safety, Quality and Food Safety Standards.
* Provide full emergency breakdown cover for all plant and services.
* Complete all work sheets and report any problems and follow ups required, including Planned Maintenance work sheets, handover sheets.
* Maintain a high standard of work and promote good housekeeping throughout the hatchery and workshop.
* Administer, monitor, analyse and update machine history data using the engineering maintenance management system.
* Provide first line cover in all hatchery machinery problems.
* Be proactive with ideas for improving the plant and engineering departments.
* Provide ideas on cost cutting measures.
* Work closely with the Engineering Manager to help maintain efficiency and throughputs withing the hatchery and reduce downtime.
What We’re Looking For
* A genuine interest and experience in engineering, mechanics, and automation and how things work with a strong electrical background.
* 18th Edition Electrical Qualification.
* A practical, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Reliability, attention to detail, motivation, and a willingness to learn.
* A full UK driving licence.

Job Type: Permanent
Location: Ipswich
Hours per week: 45 Hours per week
Working Times: Working hours will be approximately 05:45am – 14:45pm, with a 30-minute paid lunch break. On call every alternative week / weekend.
Additional hours may be required at the weekends for additional out of hours maintenance.
Pay Rate: Competitive salary and standby payment every other week when on call. Use of a van for on call weekends.
