Job overview
Band 3 Radiology Assistant, Full or part time considered. Due to the opening of the new Community Diagnostic Hub in Workington, we are actively recruiting Radiology Assistants to support high quality patient‑centred care.
The role of the Radiology Assistant is to support Radiologists, Radiographers and Sonographers, providing services 24/7 over 365 days per annum. Applicants must be flexible, show excellent organisational and prioritising skills, use their own initiative and be confident to discuss new ways of working to improve service efficiency.
Successful applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours per the shift rota, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and to rotate between community and diagnostic hub sites.
The work involves patient care, portering, image handling, clerical work, computer use and data input. This is an opportunity for someone to work directly with patients and support the radiology team in providing high‑quality diagnostic imaging.
This position in the Directorate of Radiology offers the opportunity to be part of a growing, vibrant team, providing safe and effective diagnostic imaging to the people of Cumbria while contributing to dynamic change in patient care.
Main duties of the job
Assist under direct supervision of qualified staff in clinical and office areas, supporting Radiographers, Sonographers and Consultant Radiologists (including specialty doctors). Duties include patient, equipment and environment care, patient transfer, reception duties, telephone and medical records handling, computer use and data input, and liaison with NHS professionals, support staff and the general public to ensure an efficient service.

Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* Vocational (NVQ) qualifications level 3 in care or equivalent
* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of induction process
