Your role
* Take pride in developing high‑quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
* Collaborate with both national and international design teams, using your expertise and leadership to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
* Manage the production and review of high‑quality design documentation, including sketches, drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
* Independently carry out technical work and provide guidance to junior staff members.
* Lead teams in the design, assessment, and maintenance of structural or railway civil engineering projects, and provide structures‑related input on multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme and quality of deliverables.
* Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineering judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option.
* Lead bids and tenders, winning work and developing client relationships.
Qualifications
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
* A professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
* Experience of working with key clients such as Network Rail, National Highways or local authorities as well as major Contractors and Developers.
* Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards).
* Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment or of delivering Railway Civil Engineering and Stations projects.
* Experience with structural analysis software packages such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design. Experience with ABAQUS, ANSYS or NASTRAN is also desirable.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across multiple engineering disciplines.
* Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types.
* Ability to manage stakeholders, e.g. specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.
* Knowledge of AI or programming skills is welcomed.

Additional Information
Security clearance may be required. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance and will be discussed at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency of 5 years or longer.
