About the Post:
Are you passionate about delivering high-quality waste services. Barnsley Council is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced LGV Waste collection driver to join our Waste Management team. You'll play a key role in ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
o Operate LGV Category C vehicles to collect household waste across designated routes.
o Supervise and support a small crew, ensuring safe and effective completion of daily duties.
o Carry out physically demanding operational tasks in all weather conditions.
o Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness and security.
o Use mechanical lifting and emptying equipment safely and efficiently.
o Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with the public.
o Follow agreed procedures, adapt to changing priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
o Promote safe working practices and support new staff or apprentices where required.
About You
You will have:
* Full Category C LGV driver licence.
* A valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
* IOSH Managing Safety (or willingness to undertake).
* Willingness to undertake Manual Handling, Needle Stick and IOSH Working Safely training
* Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
* Physical capability to undertake outdoor manual labour in all weather
* Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
