We're looking for a Production Supervisor to join our on-site solution in Sittingbourne. This role offers an excellent opportunity to advance your career into management. The position involves hands-on operational work with dedicated time for developing managerial skills, including Health & Safety, Quality, and leadership.
This role operates on a 4 on - 4 off schedule, Day shifts. Salary ranges from £28,000-£31,000 plus a 20% shift allowance.
CHEP manages a large pallet pool rented to customers, with operations focused on repairing and maintaining pallets. The primary responsibility is to lead a shift of 10-15 staff, promoting continuous improvement, safety, and quality metrics, while providing effective leadership. Building and maintaining good relations with third-party management teams on site is also essential.
Key responsibilities:
* Supervise, develop, and coach employees, fostering good relationships with third-party management teams.
* Drive continuous improvement through systemic change based on data analysis and root cause investigations.
* Own and control all quality-related issues on their site/shift.
* Promote a zero-harm safety culture within the team.
* Conduct tours using the 1-CHEP Management Observation Tool (MOT).
* Lead root cause analysis of all incidents occurring during the shift.
* Recognize necessary changes and share knowledge across business areas.
* Adapt and learn in new situations.
* Manage yard and warehouse movements, delegating tasks to FLT drivers as needed.
* Hold daily shift briefs and report on plant KPIs.
* Ensure timely responses to safety and production KPIs.
* Maintain ownership of safety, quality, and production controls.
* Assist in monitoring employee holidays in line with company policies.
* Manage and monitor absence levels according to procedures.
* Act as Deputy for the Site Lead when required.
What you'll need:
* Experience in lean-based/continuous improvement roles is advantageous.
* At least 3 years in a production, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
* Experience in quality-focused environments and familiarity with quality standards.
* Ability to work successfully within a matrix structure.
* Strong numerical and verbal communication skills.
* Highly organized, proactive, self-motivated, and persistent.
* Effective coaching skills.
* Proven communication and problem-solving capabilities.
* Knowledge of quality principles.
* Experience with MS Office applications.
* Leadership, project management, and change management capabilities.
