Qualified Social Worker, Physical Disability and Older People’s TeamPay rate to £38 per hour Contract roleVitalis are recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to work in a Physical Disability and Older People’s Team in Reading Council. Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced Locum Social Worker to join our Physical Disability and Older People’s (PDOP) Team. There will be a requirement of the Social Worker to come to Reading once a week for meetings or visits.The PDOP Team forms part of the Living Well Service within Adult Social Care, working alongside the Mental Health and Learning Disability and Neurodiversity (LDN) teams. The service is overseen by a Head of Service and is focused on delivering person-centred, strengths-based support to promote independence and well-being.This multi-disciplinary team—comprising Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Social Care Co-ordinators—supports adults aged 18+ with long-term physical disabilities, as well as individuals aged 65 and over. The role involves completing Care Act assessments, support planning, and working closely with partner agencies. We are looking for a Social Worker with:· Strong experience in adult safeguarding processes· Confidence in undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments· Ideally, some experience in court work, including applications to the Court of Protection A solid understanding of relevant legislation and excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.Don’t forget, if this role isn’t the perfect fit, we’re confident we can find one that is.
