You possess strong communication skills, both written and spoken, and are confident in your ability to explain complex issues clearly to a wide range of audiences. You have a practical knowledge of relevant legislation, including Housing Benefit and Council Tax reduction regulations, and you are comfortable working with IT systems, especially NEC systems and document management software. What the Job Involves As a Benefits Officer within the North Yorkshire Council Welfare & Benefits Service, you will administer Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction schemes in compliance with legislation, case law, and local policies. Your role includes processing new claims, handling changes in circumstances, providing advice and support to applicants, and managing overpayments. You will be a key point of contact for customers, offering assistance, resolving queries, and supporting income maximization efforts. In addition, you will work collaboratively with internal services and external partners to provide seamless service delivery.
