The Brokerage Team works as part of the Commissioning and Procurement Team in Adult Social Care Team to source care from contracted care providers which will support people to live the lives they want to lead.
Our Adult Social Care Team was found to be ‘Outstanding’ in a recent peer review and we are looking for outstanding candidates to come and join our brokerage team to carry on our good work.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we reset our care services and emerge from Covid with new systems and vigour.
Our Brokers source social care to support physical and personal day to day needs, psychological support, specialist accommodation, home from hospital support, transport and day services for vulnerable adults in our Borough. This post will also source end of life care for adults
This team works tirelessly to ensure that our residents have good quality care that is person centred and focused on individuals’ outcomes.
The Role
This is a fast paced role with priorities changing rapidly often during the same day. Reporting to the Self Directed Support Team Leader, you will be a resilient motivated individual and use you wide ranging Social Care Market knowledge and experience of health and social care to broker services and support for Vulnerable People in accordance with the Care Act 2014. As an innovative, vibrant thinker, you will influence colleagues, negotiate with, and manage, providers to deliver best value for money services. Your understanding of the Council’s cost challenges, operating processes and legislation around Vulnerable People will drive you optimise contractual agreements whilst safeguarding people and improving their outcomes. Focusing on continuous improvement methodologies you will work closely with social work teams, procurement, commissioners, partners and wider Council teams to provide value for money brokered solutions and, where applicable, suggest alternative options where it would offer better overall outcomes and value.
As an experienced team player, your support and close working relationship with colleagues in your wider team will be invaluable to ensure the whole team is always available and able to respond and support our internal and external customers.
Key requirements
You will be a resilient driven individual with a proven working knowledge of the health and social care sector and the brokerage function alongside an up to date understanding of the legislation associated with care and obligations relating to Vulnerable People. You must be an experienced and proficient user of all Microsoft packages and SharePoint You must be a flexible worker as the brokerage team manages care across 7 days so a rota is in place for occasional weekend and bank holiday working to meet demand as required.
