Madison Recruitment are proud to be leading the process to recruit an experienced Exports Shipping Manager, based out of their Kiwi Crunch offices in Hastings.
About the Role:
The role leads the end-to-end shipping, logistics and inventory coordination across the export operation.
You will take ownership of export shipping and logistics activities, ensuring product flows seamlessly from orchard to offshore markets. You’ll work closely with sales managers, packhouses, coolstores, growers and logistics partners to deliver on programmes, deadlines and evolving market demands.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where attention to detail, strong stakeholder management and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Managing all export shipping and logistics activities, including sea and airfreight bookings
2. Overseeing inventory accuracy from packout through to container loading and shipment
3. Coordinating shipping schedules with sales, packhouses and coolstores to meet programme cut-offs
4. Managing export documentation and ensuring compliance with market access requirements
5. Participating in shipping rate negotiations and providing recommendations
6. Monitoring stock levels and proactively communicating risks or opportunities
7. Supporting seasonal forecasting and export programme planning
8. Overseeing freight invoices and shipping-related administration
9. Building strong relationships with growers, suppliers and logistics partners
10. Contributing to continuous improvement and future-focused growth initiatives
11. Managing two direct reports
About You
You’ll be an experienced export shipping or logistics professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and being closely involved in operational decision-making.
You will Ideally Have:
12. Proven experience in export shipping, logistics or coordination roles
13. Exposure to fresh produce, FMCG or time-sensitive export environments
14. A strong understanding of export documentation and shipping requirements
15. Excellent organisational and communication skills
16. Confidence managing multiple stakeholders and deadlines
17. Strong systems capability and Microsoft Office skills (Excel essential)
18. A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
