Assistant Property Accountant
We are looking for an Assistant Property Accountant to join our Property Accounting team within Financial Management in Norwich. You will play a vital role in reporting and maintaining financial controls, producing insightful reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations, and collaborating with finance and surveyors to build strong relationships and resolve any issues that arise.
Reporting and Key Responsibilities
* Support financial operations and reporting requirements, including Trial Balance and VAT reports.
* Assist with creation and delivery of ad‑hoc reporting to internal and external stakeholders such as surveyors and solicitors.
* Review and reconcile tenant and landlord direct recoveries.
* Support others with financial operations related to the mobilisation and demobilisation of property transactions.
* Handle day‑to‑day queries from clients and occupiers.
* Perform any other accounting and administrative duties as needed in support of the property portfolio.
* Assist Property Accountants and Senior Property Accountants in service delivery across the team portfolio.
Maintain Financial Controls
* Assist in monitoring key performance indicators for the client portfolio and take ownership for timely resolution of issues.
* Ensure timely and accurate completion of control account reconciliations and monitoring of funding levels.
* Effectively manage risk by complying with company, accounting, and legislative procedures and controls; identify problem areas and escalate promptly.
* Perform other controls as governed by our accredited control framework.
Engagement with Stakeholders and Wider Teams
* Act as a point of contact for specific clients for day‑to‑day portfolio management.
* Liaise with and support Surveyors, JBS finance teams and other stakeholders, acting on requests and providing timely information.
* Attend internal and external meetings as required.
* Maintain strong communication links and working relationships with Property Accounting management, Accounts Receivable, Treasury & Control, Surveying, and other internal stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, V‑Lookups, X‑Lookups and similar formulas).
* Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
* Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work as part of a team.
* Flexible and able to work under pressure, multi‑task and prioritise effectively.
* Organised, detail‑oriented and able to meet tight deadlines.
* Self‑initiative to resolve day‑to‑day issues.
* AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent, with aspirations for further study.
* Knowledge of Client Systems (Yardi/MRI/Horizon) would be advantageous.
