Job summary
As Civil/Structural Engineer you will work on a broad range of civil, structural and Marine engineering assets forming strategies and intervention policies that will feed into the Port's longer-term plans. As part of the team, you will be responsible for collating, reviewing and approving technical designs and specifications ensuring adequate design assurance and adherence to statutory and best practice approaches.
You will, with collaboration with stakeholders and team members, prepare/review designs, work packages, specifications and drawings, for work to be carried out by contract, whether new construction, planned maintenance or reactive maintenance in both the Civil and Structural disciplines. You will act as Employer representative under NEC3/4 suite of contracts to ensure works are suitably completed with appropriate management of commercial, quality, technical and operational aspects. You will act as Principal Designer when appointed.
You will assist in the management of a programme of condition inspections, working in partnership with in-house inspectors and external specialists, to make recommendations for maintenance to maximise the lifespan of our Civil/Structural assets.
We encourage candidates working towards chartership, and can offer mentoring and support in preparation for sign-off and professional review with the Institution of Civil Engineers via our Training Scheme (we are an ICE Approved Employer).
Skills and Qualifications
* BEng/MEng in relevant Engineering discipline, with 3+ years post-graduate experience preferably from a design consultancy background
* Familiar with current design codes
* Understanding of CDM Regulations
* Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, offer ideas, and apply good judgement in problem solving
* High standard of written and verbal communication
* Knowledgeable in the use of (or willing to learn) AutoCad
* Hold a valid UK driving licence and use of own vehicle

Salary: Up to £50k DOE
