As a Purchasing Assistant / Junior Buyer, you will support day‑to‑day procurement activities to ensure the timely availability of materials for electronic manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with procurement, planning, and production teams to manage purchase orders, support MRP execution, maintain supplier relationships, and contribute to cost and inventory optimization initiatives.
Our Team
You will work within the site Purchasing and Supply Chain team, collaborating with Production, Material & Production Control, Engineering, Vendor Quality, and Finance. The team focuses on maintaining material availability, supplier performance, and accurate purchasing data to support manufacturing and business objectives.
What You Will Do
1. Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in the ERP system in line with approved requisitions and MRP signals
2. Monitor supplier confirmations, shipment dates, and delivery schedules, following up to ensure on‑time delivery
3. Maintain accurate purchasing data including pricing, lead times, and material master information
4. Support sourcing of low‑ to medium‑value components, consumables, and indirect materials
5. Assist cost‑reduction initiatives by collecting pricing data, analyzing supplier quotes, and preparing comparison reports
6. Review MRP messages and exceptions, taking action to expedite, reschedule, or cancel orders as required
7. Partner with production planners to resolve material shortages, delays, and unexpected demand
8. Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts, overstock, and obsolescence—particularly for electronic components
9. Communicate with suppliers regarding delivery performance, pricing issues, quality concerns, and documentation
10. Support resolution of invoice discrepancies and goods receipt issues
11. Assist with supplier onboarding activities, documentation collection, and basic performance tracking
12. Generate purchasing and materials reports (open POs, shortages, price variances) for internal stakeholders
13. Maintain procurement documentation including certificates of conformity, RoHS/REACH declarations, and material specifications
14. Support audits related to procurement processes, supplier evaluation, and material traceability
15. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, sourcing guidelines, and manufacturing standards
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
16. 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials roles within a manufacturing or production environment
(relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications)
17. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and purchasing processes
18. Experience supporting material planning, purchase order management, and supplier communication
19. Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy
20. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities
21. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word)
22. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
What Will Put You Ahead
23. Experience in electronic manufacturing environments or with electronic component suppliers (e.g., semiconductors, PCB assemblies, passives)
24. Experience working with mechanical component suppliers (e.g., machine shops, metal fabricators, plating suppliers)
25. Understanding of supply chain concepts such as lead times, MOQs, safety stock, and demand planning
26. Basic negotiation experience related to pricing and delivery terms
27. Exposure to ISO‑certified manufacturing environments
28. CIPS Level 2–3, APICS CPIM fundamentals, or ERP/MM training certifications
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
29. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods (minimum 2 hours)
30. Ability to move throughout office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments
31. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
32. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and perform repetitive motions
33. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment
34. Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing workloads safely
35. Ability to respond to visual and auditory cues
36. Compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, training, and requirements
37. Willingness to work in manufacturing environments where noise levels may be elevated and PPE is required
