About the Candidate
Candidates should have industry experience, with up-to-date knowledge of industry standard practices. Be able to work closely with students and colleagues to review student progress and achievement. Possess a degree qualification in a relevant subject area (i.e. Law, Criminology, Public Services). Have fully qualified lecturer or teacher status (or be willing to work towards) and experience of teaching in further education.
About the Role
To support the ongoing curriculum development and academic excellence we are seeking to appoint a public services lecturer and programme leader who can teach to the industry standards and demonstrate innovative and outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices. There is significant potential of further development of the provision and the successful candidate will be part of the team to drive this forward.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead and co-ordinate coherent learning programme(s) and/or provision within the curriculum through effective teamwork.
* Take responsibility for ensuring high quality information, advice and guidance; recruitment, retention, achievement, success and progression of individual students are within a framework of continual quality improvement
* Lead on the delivery of exemplary teaching and learning and support standards of assessment.
* Lead the course and/or provision and drive a high-quality learner experience through all stages of the learning journey; and take responsibility for collating reviewing and disseminating, all aspects of learner progress and destination.
* Take responsibility for following up issues or concerns for example attendance or well-being and lead on the required action/s or interventions to address these in conjunction with other internal staff or external agencies where necessary.
* Lead on (supported by the Curriculum Manager) 'you said we did' activity ensuring feedback to students drives continued improvement
Qualifications
* Teacher qualification or commitment to work towards within the first year of employment and achieve
* Minimum of a level 2 Maths and English qualification
* Knowledge of industry standard practice and able to integrate into teaching.
* Exemplar teaching and learning leading to great student progress from their starting points
* Experience of the quality assurance process as they apply to the FE and/or HE sector
* Evidence of programme / Course data monitoring, bringing about quality improvement.
* Good understanding of pedagogical approaches
* Ability to lead and contribute to IQA
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
