Position – Mechanical Field Engineer (3359)
Location – Hinkley Point C site
Travel – 5 days per week on site

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferable.
General knowledge on the following activities:
1. Pipework installation
2. Tank/vessel installation
3. Steelwork erection
4. HVAC installation
5. Turbine/generator installation
6. Pumps/valve/heat exchangers installation
7. Alignment checks
8. Torque control and joint integrity checks
9. FME requirements (back out checks)
10. QA/QC experience
11. Punchlist checks
12. Knowledge and experience with computer software such as Outlook/Excel/SharePoint/teams and PowerPoint etc required.
13. Ideal candidate will be looking for a hands-off role, this position is to observe, capture and report only. (No physical work)
14. Candidates should be aware that we do not instruct or own and responsibility in the works captured, we confirm adherence to the specification and process approved. The role is 75% site and 25% office based.
15. The job description doesn’t cover the responsibility that the FE will have to record and report findings to Construction and Quality, this will usually involve records and information to be recorded and saved by the FE and distributed accordingly.
16. Managing the outcomes of the surveillance undertaken which will involve attending some meetings and being challenging the contractors but also being challenged themselves.
17. Confident communication skills essential.
18. Certain documentation checks or reviews will be undertaken so knowledge of some specifications will be essential.
19. (BTS, BST, ISO9001) GQAS and other specs to be understood.
20. Either a younger or older person looking to build a foundation within NNB and carry out FE duties for 24-36 months is common, candidates with hands on experience will likely get bored in this role.
21. Mechanical qualifications stated however HND/diploma may not be essential. Experienced knowledge and understanding can be enough.
22. (5 years’ experience usually enough) Knowledge of current process such as NCRs/ITPs etc an advantage.
23. Must be a team member, the team is transverse across the project and all scopes are shared including members of quality, construction and other surveillance teams.
