Position: Drug and Alcohol Worker Location: 56-60 Castle Road, Scarborough, YO11 1XE Working Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £25,867 - £32,090 Please note: The salary listed reflects the full earning potential for this role. About the role As a Drug and Alcohol Worker, you will be based at North Yorkshire Horizon (Castle Road), supporting individuals experiencing challenges related to substance use alongside mental health, housing, and wider social needs. You will build trusting relationships, provide practical and emotional support, and help people move towards greater independence and sustained recovery. This service provides tailored support to help individuals stabilise their lives, access appropriate treatment, and reintegrate into their communities. What you’ll do Support individuals to manage and improve their physical and mental wellbeing, including issues related to drug and alcohol use Deliver harm reduction advice and recovery-focused interventions Help people develop essential life skills such as budgeting, money management, and tenancy sustainment Support access to treatment services, healthcare, education, training, and employment opportunities Empower individuals to make informed choices and take control of their recovery journey Promote safer lifestyles and reduce risks associated with substance use Work collaboratively with partner agencies and community services To succeed in this role, you’ll need: Experience or a strong interest in supporting people affected by drug and alcohol use Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people A compassionate and non-judgemental approach to sensitive and complex issues Skills in motivating, supporting, and advocating for individuals in recovery Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic working environment A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as the role involves community-based work What We Offer We value the people who make a difference every day.
