About the CompanyThis is an initial 6-month FTC, with a salary ranging between £30,000-£35,000 with a great set of benefits including Bupa healthcare, 5% employer pension & much more!Our client’s technical teams work at the forefront of materials science and electrochemical innovation, contributing to a rapidly evolving programme focused on next-generation energy solutions.They are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the team, this role supports a wide range of laboratory activities, contributing to material preparation, cell assembly, testing programmes and day-to-day laboratory operations. You will work closely with scientists, engineers and technical leaders. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with wet chemistry techniques in the lab.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport laboratory activities assigned by the Head of Lab OperationsPrepare and cure polymer membrane materials in line with defined SOPsAssemble electrochemical cells and cell stacks, from small-scale units to mechanically assembled stacksConduct testing of electrochemical cells using battery and cell-testing equipment following set protocolsMaintain high standards of health & safety and laboratory housekeeping, contributing to a positive safety cultureCheck, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, reporting issues promptlyMonitor laboratory stock levels, assist with ordering and receive materials into the inventory systemEnsure safe and efficient operation of laboratory processes and equipment, including maintenance and fault reportingPerson SpecificationLevel 3 qualification (A-Level, NVQ) or higher in a science or engineering discipline; Level 2 with strong laboratory experience consideredExperience with wet chemistry techniques and/or analytical equipment (FTIR, UV-Vis, TGA) is desirableExperience calibrating or validating laboratory equipment or materialsMethodical approach to assembly, materials preparation and testingWillingness to learn new techniques and a good understanding of scientific principlesUnderstanding of laboratory health & safety, 5S, and continuous improvement principlesExperience in a project-based R&D environment is advantageousSounds good, how do I apply?Option 1: Click the apply button, don't worry if you don't have an up-to-date CV, we can discuss whatever you have to hand.Option 2: Find Alexander Donnelly on LinkedIn and drop me a message or connection request
