JOB DESCRIPTION: HLTA Literacy Lead

GRADE: Grade 7 NPS 19-25
ANNUAL SALARY: £32,061 -£36,363 (Actual Salary £27,111—£30,748)
This post is 37 hours per week, term time only

You will lead on the teaching of reading to pupils at Morecambe Bay Academy. Your focus will be those who joined us unable to read at the expected standard.
You will lead guided reading, small groups and 1:1 work with pupils in order to help them catch-up.
You will effectively work with data to measure impact and inform next steps.
You will play an active role in planning / delivering lessons and adapting the implementation of the curriculum for pupils with special educational needs and/ or disabilities.
The role will be based in our school library, and you will also support our whole school reading programme.
Qualification:
Recognised and relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
Level 3 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy
Experience:
Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age
Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment
Staff management experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate at a level of understanding and competence equivalent to NVQ Level 4 standard
Ability to relate well to children
Ability to work as part of a team
Good communication skills
Ability to supervise and assist pupils
Ability to relate well to parents/carers
Knowledge of the concept of confidentiality
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
Ability to assess children's development
Ability to plan and deliver work programmes
Ability to organise, lead and motivate a team
Flexible attitude to work
