Whats the Opportunity?
My client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding Cost Management team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established built environment consultancy, supporting high-profile clients and leading the delivery of a wide variety of construction projects.
In this role, youll be responsible for providing expert advice on all cost aspects of construction projects - from feasibility through to final accounts. Youll be the key commercial contact for clients, so strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset are essential.
This is a varied role where youll lead and manage cost consultancy services on a range of exciting projects. Key responsibilities include:
Cost Planning & Estimating
* Producing cost estimates at all RIBA stages using CostX or similar software
* Developing feasibility and detailed cost plans
Pre-Contract Services
* Advising on procurement strategies and contract arrangements
* Preparing tender documentation and managing the tender process
* Evaluating tenders and negotiating contract sums
* Preparing final contract documentation
Post-Contract Services
* Administering contracts and providing advice on contractual matters
* Valuing completed works and certifying payments
* Managing variations, changes in design, and cost reporting
* Leading negotiation of final accounts
Leadership & Client Engagement
* Acting as the main client contact, maintaining strong client relationships
* Working closely with junior team members and mentoring graduates
* Supporting business development by growing existing and new client relationships
Key
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
* MRICS (preferred, but not essential)
* Proven experience in a similar Quantity Surveying role, ideally consultancy-side
* Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and commercial awareness
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required
* Client-facing experience and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
