We’re a team of independent thinkers who prioritise quality, inclusion and integrity, delivering a different experience to our clients—personal, proactive and agile—with the expertise they need. This is Grant Thornton.
Job Description: Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals. Grant Thornton’s well-established Restructuring Team supports companies and their stakeholders to navigate periods of stress and distress by providing restructuring services that deliver thoughtful, innovative and pragmatic solutions. We work alongside colleagues across the globe and have access to expertise across our full-service practice, allowing us to support lenders, investors and management teams with challenging situations. Our capabilities include turnaround services, restructuring options, contingency planning, independent business reviews, insolvency appointments and expert witness work.
Our clients range from international, listed groups to mid-market organisations across sectors including real estate, construction, healthcare, energy and natural resources, industrials, manufacturing, automotive and consumer finance. We have worked on high-profile assignments and confidential engagements across the UK and beyond. You will be part of a growing, diverse team based in London with opportunities to work across the UK and further afield, and you’ll be supported to develop your career. We encourage a proactive approach and expect you to push ideas, ask difficult questions and provide the assurance clients need during challenging periods of their lifecycle.
We’re happy to discuss flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares, and we’ll support you to balance your work and life.
A look into the role:
As an Assistant Manager in the team, you will:
* Begin to understand and demonstrate the market and current developments (both work-givers and competitors).
* Provide recommendations to ongoing negotiations and pitches, including origination activities.
* Contribute to internal and external presentations for the department and the firm.
* Build and nurture your own network both internally and externally to the firm.
* Take part in internal and external events on training, marketing and assignment-related topics to promote recovery services. Apply technical knowledge appropriately to individual clients, display skill and speed in resolving client problems, and provide clear recommendations to managers. Balance the need for information with the client’s requirement for quick decisions, and manage junior staff on assignments, including coaching and timely feedback.
Knowing you’re right for us

We value your individuality and encourage you to bring your whole self to work and pursue your passions inside and outside of work.
Beyond the job
We look at flexible working options for all roles to help balance work and life. The impact you can make goes beyond your day job, including secondments, fundraising for local charities, or investing in entrepreneurs in the developing world. Our values—purposefully driven, actively curious and candid but kind—guide every move.
We’re looking for people who want to contribute, bring fresh ideas and go beyond expectations, doing what’s right for the firm, clients, colleagues and themselves. It’s how it should be.
