Role overview
As a data analyst, you'll work on projects where you help design and build analytical solutions to real business problems. Day to day, you'll be gathering requirements, finding the right analytical approach, running analyses, and turning your findings into clear insights and recommendations - across all kinds of datasets and business scenarios. You'll be part of a cross-functional team alongside other data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders, where your expertise helps drive analytical solutions from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
* Investigate datasets to identify insights and any challenges such as poor data quality using appropriate analytical techniques
* Leverage advances in data analysis technologies and techniques, particularly those available in modern BI and analytics platforms
* Integrate datasets from multiple sources to enable new types of analyses and insights
* Document, implement and maintain analytical metrics and reporting
* Understand business requirements and translate them into the appropriate analytical approaches
* Apply measurement frameworks to collect data for digital analytics and similar data platforms
* Take part in peer code/analysis reviews
* Participate in in-house 2nd or 3rd line support of analytical applications, working with colleagues in IT and operations
* Follow analytics development best practices including version control, testing, and documentation
* Use AI to augment your work for improved efficiency and quality of output
As part of a cross-functional analytics team
* Contribute to analytics programmes and projects
* Work with colleagues to translate business requirements into analytics designs and support delivery of solutions
* Help with continuous improvement of data analysis and analytics processes and capabilities
* Understand and apply security and regulatory principles to data collection, management and analysis
* Occasionally you will be involved in the recruitment process for data analyst roles, including reviewing applications, assessments, and participating in interviews
Skills and Experience
* Python, R, or Power BI - proficiency in one or more of these tools is essential
* Data analysis techniques: ability to investigate, clean, and interpret complex datasets
* Familiarity with modern BI and analytics platforms
* Understanding of analytics development best practices (version control, testing, documentation)
* Awareness and interest in digital analytics
* Ability to communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Knowledge of data security and regulatory frameworks (e.g. GDPR)
* Familiarity with digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
Desirable
* Experience working in the public sector is beneficial but not required
* Experience supporting analytical applications in a 2nd or 3rd line capacity
