Wellbeing Worker – Emotional Mental Health & Wellbeing (Sandwell) - PW2
Barnardo's is working in partnership with Sandwell Children's Trust to deliver an integrated emotional mental health and wellbeing (EMHWB) offer for children and young people we care for, as well as care-experienced young people.
As part of the Black Country locality team, you'll play a key role in providing trauma-informed assessments and therapeutic interventions to support children and young people with complex emotional needs. Your work will help them develop resilience, understand and manage their emotions, explore their experiences, and feel more settled and empowered in their lives.
You'll deliver structured support for young people:
1. Entering care arrangements
2. At risk of placement breakdown
3. Preparing for independence
This includes 1:1 sessions, brief interventions, mentoring, and tailored programmes that promote emotional wellbeing, goal-setting, and safe, stable care.
You'll also work closely with Sandwell Children's Trust and wider partners across health, education, social care and community services to ensure a coordinated, multi-agency response. Safeguarding is central to the role.
We're looking for candidates with:
4. Experience delivering therapeutic/mental health interventions for children and young people
5. Strong multi-agency working and advocacy skills
6. A flexible, creative approach to engagement
7. The ability to work across a variety of community settings, including homes, family hubs, and schools
This is a dynamic, face-to-face role based across the Sandwell borough, with travel up to a 20-mile radius outside of Sandwell Borough. Hybrid working arrangements are possible by agreement.
Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently until March 2026 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement. This contract is due to expire on 31.03.26

Pay & Reward Framework
We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's . We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.
For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.
Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
