As you an experienced Credit Controller looking for your next challenge, if so we are seeking a tenacious and committed Credit Controller to join a growing organisation on a sole support basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to take ownership of a busy debt book, reduce aged debt and embed stronger processes for long-term financial stability.
The Role
As Credit Controller, you will report directly to the Finance Director and play a pivotal role in improving the company’s cash flow and reducing exposure to bad debt. You’ll work closely with the Finance Director and Managing Director to shape debt collection strategies, while also managing the day-to-day credit control process.
Your Key Responsibilities include:
* Take full ownership of the company’s debt book, prioritising actions to prevent debt escalation;
* Chase overdue invoices and manage the debt collection process (by value and age);
* Calculate and report debtor days as a KPI, producing daily updates and monthly reports;
* Negotiate payment plans and obtain written refusals where required;
* Liaise with the FD and MD on credit collection strategies and customer priorities;
* Analyse aging debts, making recommendations and taking action to recover funds;
* Continue chasing any new debts beyond 60 days to prevent build-up;
* Maintain strong relationships with customers while enforcing payment terms;
* Ensure all credit control activities comply with company policies, contracts, and regulations.
Ideally your background would include:
* Experienced in credit control (5+ years, ideally with some senior-level exposure);
* Confident in reducing aged debt and improving cash collection performance;
* Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organised;
* Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision;
* Skilled in negotiation and communication, with the ability to handle sensitive customer discussions;
* Proficient with MS Excel and financial systems (e.g. SAGE, Oracle, SAP);
* A relevant qualification (CICM) would be an advantage but is not essential.
What’s on Offer
* Competitive salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum
* Full-time role (5 days per week)
* 3–6 months contract with the potential to become permanent, based on performance
* Opportunity to make a real impact in shaping credit control processes and delivering measurable results
If you are an experienced Credit Controller, immediately available or on short notice, and eager to take on a challenge that will make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you
