We’re looking for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion team at our HCA Laboratories based in Shropshire House.
HCA Laboratories has over 35 years’ experience in providing pathology services, for acute care in our HCA Hospitals, IVF Clinics, Insurance work, healthcare screening and GP services. We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistry and endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.
Weekday shift hours:
08:00-16:30
10:00-18:30
12:00-20:30
Weekend shift hours:
08:00-17:00
08:00-20:30
Night duty hours:
20:30-08:00
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Expected to work in all sections within the Blood Transfusion department which would include; day to day running of the department, validation, document control, stock management, participation in the compilation of data required for various meetings and keeping maintenance records up to date.
2. Speedy and accurate processing of samples
3. Interpretation, validation and timely reporting of results
4. Ensure equipment are in good working order
5. Carry out Audits
6. Adhere to Health and Safety policies

9. HCPC Registration
10. IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science
11. IBMS accredited MSc with Transfusion Science education course equivalent to 45 Level 7 CATS points
12. MSc in another Biomedical Science discipline in conjunction with an IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science or a Transfusion Science education course equivalent to 45 Level 7 CATS points
13. Transfusion Specialist Portfolio or BBTS Specialist
14. Evidence of continual personal development (CPD)
