Overview
Locum Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist CAMHS Crisis & ICCS. This role is based in East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) and involves working across two teams in the East London CAMHS Alternatives to Admissions Pathway, in the CAMHS Crisis and Intensive Community Care Service. The post is a part‑time job share across both teams for 6 PAs per week.

Responsibilities
* Provide psychiatric assessment and interventions for young people in mental health crisis and oversee their management, including diversion from admission to alternative intensive pathways.
* Join multidisciplinary team meetings and provide clinical leadership to care planning and goal-based mental health interventions.
* Attend senior management meetings to contribute to clinical governance structures and strategy; represent the service in multi‑agency forums.
* Supervise junior medical staff.
* Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness due to the unpredictability of working with young people in crisis and associated risk.
* Provide leadership and participate in clinical governance across two teams serving three boroughs in East London, offering home treatment and crisis assessments in hospitals.

Qualifications and requirements
* Education
o Full GMC registration
o MRCPsych
o Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT in appropriate specialty (or within 6 months)
o Section 12 approved and Approved Clinician status or willingness to apply for approval
* Desirable
o Higher academic degree
* Experience
o Possesses an extensive range of clinical knowledge and excellent clinical skills
o Experience of assessment and management of CYP with complex mental health disorders
* Knowledge
o Critical enquiry and evidence-based practice
o Sound knowledge of legal frameworks for assessment and treatment of young people including consent, Mental Health Act, Children Act, safeguarding
* Communication
o Strong leadership and coordination skills; ability to direct and organise teams
o Excellent communication with a range of people
o Ability to build effective relationships with patients, families, colleagues and other professionals
o Ability to cope with pressure and adapt to change and new demands
o Enthusiasm and initiative in pursuing innovation and high standards
* Travel
o Ability to travel to other community venues including patients’ homes
